To the north of Krakow, Krakow-Czestochowa Jura (Kraków-Częstochowa Upland) is located Ojców National Park. It is the smallest, (surface) national park in Poland. In 1831 buildings destroyed by fire in Tyniec, a monastery for over 100 years, fell into disrepair. Only in 1939 the monks returned to the buildings in Tyniec.
